Forgiveness Is Necessary

Forgiveness allows us to be released from the bondage that unforgiveness can bring in our lives. God desires that we would be willing to forgive those that have offended us because he has forgiven us for our offenses against him. Those who will not forgive may find themselves emotionally, physically and mentally plagued with illnesses and sickness because of the internal turmoil that goes on within us regarding our unforgiveness. How is it that such a group of people who have been forgiven for the ultimate offense, against the ultimate Savior, the one and only true God, can attempt to justify the lack of forgiveness in our hearts for one another?

God felt so strongly about forgiveness that He mentions “forgive” in the Bible 28 times, yet we fail to see the importance of forgiveness, and still want to be forgiven for our own offenses. When we won’t forgive it’s like going to the doctor for a condition, you’re given a prescription yet you go home and don’t take it and still expect to be healed.

If you have unforgiveness in your heart God has given you the prescription for your healing.

Jesus answered, “I tell you, not seven times, but seventy-seven times” (Matthew 18:21-22). “Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as, in Christ, God forgave you” (Ephesians 4:32). “For if you forgive men when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you” (Matthew 6:14).

Be blessed
